Excited-state thermodynamics

چکیده
In the last several years, the Casimir energy for a variety of 1+1-dimensional integrable models has been determined from the exact S-matrix. It is shown here how to modify the boundary conditions to project out the lowest-energy state, which enables one to find excited-state energies. This is done by calculating thermodynamic expectation values of operators which generate discrete symmetries. This is demonstrated with a number of perturbed conformal field theories, including the Ising model, the three-state Potts model, Zn parafermions, Toda minimal S-matrices, and massless Goldstinos.

Ground and excited electronic state thermodynamics of aqueous carbon monoxide: a theoretical study.
By using the quasi Gaussian entropy theory in combination with molecular dynamics simulations and the perturbed matrix method, we investigate the ground and excited state thermodynamics of aqueous carbon monoxide. Results show that the model used is rather accurate and provides a great detail in the description of the excitation thermodynamics.
متن کاملMicroscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives
The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...
متن کاملThermodynamics of Near-Extreme Black Holes
The thermodynamics of nearly-extreme charged black holes depends upon the number of ground states at fixed large charge and upon the distribution of excited energy states. Here three possibilities are examined: (1) Ground state highly degenerate (as suggested by the large semiclassical Hawking entropy of an extreme ReissnerNordstrom black hole), excited states not. (2) All energy levels highly ...
متن کاملTrapped interacting two-component bosons in one dimension
Abstract. In this paper we solve one dimensional trapped SU(2) bosons with repulsive δ-function interaction by means of Bethe-ansatz method. The features of ground state and low-lying excited states are studied by numerical and analytic methods. We show that the ground state is an isospin “ferromagnetic” state which differs from spin-1/2 fermions system. There exist three quasi-particles in the...
متن کاملSpectroscopic and photophysical study of the demetallation of a zinc porphyrin and the aggregation of its free base in a tetraalkylphosphonium ionic liquid.
Dissolving zinc tetraphenylporphyrin in the tetraalkylphosphonium chloride ionic liquid P4448Cl results in progressive demetallation of the solute and quantitative production of the free base porphyrin. Aggregation of the free base occurs in which the monomer and J aggregates are in fully reversible thermal equilibrium in the ionic liquid. The thermodynamic, kinetic and spectroscopic behaviour ...
